# Connect Cline to Tesselith

> Add Tesselith to Cline's MCP settings and let Cline draft and schedule social posts from VS Code.

Canonical: https://tesselith.com/ai-agents/cline

**Before you start:** You need the Cline extension, a Tesselith API key and a Tesselith workspace on Pro, Team or Agency (every new workspace starts with a 14-day Pro trial) with at least one channel connected. The API key header is the most reliable way to connect the extension.

## Quick setup

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tesselith": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://api.tesselith.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer tsl_live_…" }
    }
  }
}
```

Always set "type": "streamableHttp". Without it Cline falls back to the older SSE transport.

## Step by step

### 1. Create a Tesselith API key

In Tesselith, open Settings → Developers, create an API key and tick only the scopes the agent needs. Keys start with tsl_live_ and are shown once, so store it in your password manager or a secret store.

### 2. Open Cline's MCP settings

In the Cline panel, click the MCP Servers icon, open the Configure tab and click Configure MCP Servers.

### 3. Paste the server and save

Add the entry above with your key and save. Cline connects automatically.

### 4. Check the tools

Tesselith's tools appear in the MCP panel. Ask Cline to list your channels. Keep autoApprove limited to read-only tools.

## Troubleshooting

- **Cline tries SSE and fails:** Add "type": "streamableHttp" to the server entry.
- **401 errors:** Check the header spelling and that the key starts with tsl_live_ and hasn't been revoked.
- **Calls time out:** Raise the server's timeout in Cline's MCP settings.
- **Cline acts without asking:** Remove write tools from autoApprove.

## Questions people ask

### Does Cline support Tesselith's browser sign-in?

Cline's CLI can authorize OAuth servers. In the VS Code extension, use the API key header.

### Is my key safe in cline_mcp_settings.json?

It's stored on your machine. Use a key with only the scopes Cline needs, and revoke it in Tesselith if it leaks.
