# Connect Hermes Agent to Tesselith

> Add Tesselith to Hermes Agent's config and let your self-hosted agent schedule social posts from the terminal, Telegram or Discord.

**Before you start:** You need Hermes Agent running on your machine or server and a Tesselith workspace on Pro, Team or Agency (every new workspace starts with a 14-day Pro trial) with at least one channel connected.

## Quick setup

Then run hermes mcp login tesselith, and /reload-mcp in a running session.

## Step by step

### 1. Add Tesselith to config.yaml

Add the entry under mcp_servers in ~/.hermes/config.yaml.

### 2. Sign in

Run hermes mcp login tesselith. A Tesselith window opens. Sign in, pick the workspace, untick anything you don't want the agent to do, and click Allow access. On a headless server, add --flow device to sign in from another device.

### 3. Reload and test

Run /reload-mcp in your session (or restart Hermes), then hermes mcp test tesselith to see what the server answered.

### 4. Ask from anywhere

Ask Hermes to list your Tesselith channels. If you use Hermes' gateway, you can ask from Telegram or Discord too, and Tesselith publishes at the scheduled time even after the session ends.

## With an API key

For background jobs that can't open a browser, use a key. In Tesselith, open Settings → Developers, create an API key and tick only the scopes the agent needs. Keys start with tsl_live_ and are shown once, so store it in your password manager or a secret store.

## Troubleshooting

- **401 or 403:** The sign-in expired or the key is wrong. Run hermes mcp login tesselith again.
- **Tools are missing:** Check the server isn't enabled: false and isn't filtered by tools.include or exclude; agent.log shows the connection error.
- **Background runs fail after a while:** Background processes can't open a browser to sign in again. Log in manually, or use an API key.
- **HTML instead of JSON:** The URL points at a web page. It must end in /mcp.

### Can Hermes Agent post while I'm offline?

Yes. Hermes hands the post to Tesselith, and Tesselith publishes at the scheduled time whether or not Hermes is still running.

### Does it work with a self-hosted Hermes on a VPS?

Yes. Use the device sign-in flow or an API key, since a VPS has no browser.
