# Connect Windsurf to Tesselith

> Add Tesselith to Windsurf's Cascade and draft and schedule social posts from your editor.

Canonical: https://tesselith.com/ai-agents/windsurf

**Before you start:** You need Windsurf and a Tesselith workspace on Pro, Team or Agency (every new workspace starts with a 14-day Pro trial) with at least one channel connected. On Teams and Enterprise, an admin must enable remote MCP servers first.

## Quick setup

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tesselith": {
      "serverUrl": "https://api.tesselith.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Newer builds may show the config path in Cascade's MCP panel. Edit the file that panel opens.

## Step by step

### 1. Open Cascade's MCP settings

In the Cascade panel, open MCPs and choose to edit the raw config. Remote servers use serverUrl.

### 2. Add Tesselith and refresh

Paste the entry above, save, and click the refresh icon in the MCP list.

### 3. Authenticate

The server shows Needs authentication. Click Authenticate. A Tesselith window opens. Sign in, pick the workspace, untick anything you don't want the agent to do, and click Allow access.

### 4. Ask Cascade

Ask Cascade to list your Tesselith channels to confirm, then to draft a post.

## With an API key

To use a key instead of signing in, add a header. In Tesselith, open Settings → Developers, create an API key and tick only the scopes the agent needs. Keys start with tsl_live_ and are shown once, so store it in your password manager or a secret store. Restart Windsurf after setting the variable.

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tesselith": {
      "serverUrl": "https://api.tesselith.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:TESSELITH_API_KEY}" }
    }
  }
}
```

## Troubleshooting

- **Server won't start:** Remote servers need serverUrl, not command and args.
- **Needs authentication:** Click Authenticate to rerun the browser sign-in.
- **Nothing appears on a Teams plan:** An admin must enable remote MCP transports and allow the server.
- **Too many tools:** Cascade caps the total tools across servers. Disable servers or tools you don't use.

## Questions people ask

### Where is Windsurf's MCP config?

Usually ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json. Newer builds may use a different location; open it from Cascade's MCP panel to be sure.

### Do I need an API key?

No. Windsurf supports Tesselith's browser sign-in. Use a key only for unattended setups.
