How to connect Zed to Tesselith
Add Tesselith to Zed as a remote context server and schedule social posts from Zed's agent panel. Zed talks to Tesselith’s MCP server, so it can draft, queue and schedule posts on every channel you’ve connected. Keep a human in the loop: publishing now and deleting always ask for your confirmation.
What do I need before connecting?
You need a recent Zed and a Tesselith workspace on Pro, Team or Agency (every new workspace starts with a 14-day Pro trial) with at least one channel connected.
1 · Connect · a few minutes
Run this
Or use Settings → AI → MCP Servers → Add Server → Add Remote Server.
2 · Ask · live in Tesselith
Ask Zed to post for you
Also try:
- “Queue it for the next free slot.”
- “What's going out on Mastodon this week?”
- “List my Tesselith channels.”
The setup at a glance
- Add the remote server
- Check the status dot
- Use it in the agent panel
One connection, every channel
Connect your accounts in Tesselith once. From then on Zed can plan and schedule for any of them, and Tesselith publishes at the time you set, even after the conversation ends.
How do I connect Zed to Tesselith, step by step?
1. Add the remote server
Open Settings → AI → MCP Servers, click Add Server and choose Add Remote Server, or add the entry to settings.json yourself.
2. Sign in
With no Authorization header set, Zed prompts you to sign in. A Tesselith window opens. Sign in, pick the workspace, untick anything you don't want the agent to do, and click Allow access.
3. Check the status dot
A green dot next to tesselith means the server is active.
4. Use it in the agent panel
Make sure your agent profile includes the Tesselith tools, then ask the agent to list your channels. Zed asks you to confirm tool calls by default.
Can I use an API key instead of signing in?
Zed can send a key as a header instead. In Tesselith, open Settings → Developers, create an API key and tick only the scopes the agent needs. Keys start with tsl_live_ and are shown once, so store it in your password manager or a secret store. Zed doesn't document environment variables in settings.json, so avoid this if your settings file is synced or committed.
What can Zed do in Tesselith?
The server at https://api.tesselith.com/mcp exposes these tools. Zed only gets the permissions you approve, and never more than your own role.
Why is Zed not working with Tesselith?
Almost every failure is one of these. Tesselith returns a readable error, so asking Zed“what went wrong?” usually points at the right row.
